An interaction was held by IG Jammu, Sh. M. K. Sinha (IPS), DIG JSK - Sh Sujit Kumar (IPS), SSP Jammu - Sh Tejinder Singh (IPS) and SP City South - Sh Vinay Sharma (JKPS) at Meher Chand Mahajan Park, Gandhinagar. ASP Hq Jammu, SDPO City East, SDPO City South, SHO Gandhinagar and SHO Gangyal were also present.
The meeting was attended by a number of prominent and senior citizens of the area. The main focus of the meeting was the interface and connection between the police and public, and the role of social responsibility in prevention of crime.
The officers and members of the public present spoke at length about drug abuse. They deliberated on the need for prevention of drug abuse from the perspective of users. The importance of social institutions such as families and educational institutions was emphasised as critical in addressing the triggers of drug abuse.
The recently started *Care for your Buddy* programme was also discussed. The members of the public were apprised of the objectives of the programme for detecting cases of drug use at an early stage and initiating a healthy discourse among students, parents and teachers for prevention of drug addiction.
